Kory MacKinnon Bio

A former Corporate Trainer, and National Level athlete from small town Sarnia, Ontario, Kory was able to able to use decades of Business and Competition work-ethic, habits and mindset to escape the Rat Race in his 30's with…Real Estate.  What started off as a profitable side hustle has now turned into a Money Making Machine and a $10M+ Real Estate Portfolio.

With investing experience across multiple markets, Kory has wholesaled, joint ventured, flipped for profit, re-purposed buildings, bought raw land, implemented creative financing and used the BRRRR method on route to owning dozens of income-producing properties, over 60 doors with a mix of long term and short term rentals.

It's been an interesting past couple of years for Kory as an investor:

He has been fortunate enough to:

-Have built a profitable Property Management Business in South Western Ontario

-Bought properties that aren't just a 10 cap, but 15 and 20 cap properties in great areas of town.

-Turned a triplex fire into a turnaround project with a $350K upside

-Closed on a 12,000 ft church for $12/sq. ft., that will become 30+ units

-Picked up a multifamily building for $5000 (in Canada not Detroit :))

-Bought a 10 acre parcel of land in a prime area for development for $26k / acre

-Has done ZERO money down real estate, Large Credits on Closing, Vendor Take Back Mortgages, and to boot has represented Canada Internationally as an athlete going as far as the Olympic Trials for Weightlifting.

What has helped him get through all these life experiences?  An unwavering mindset along with the habits and outlook to make it all come together by design.

Key Takeaways:

“I would say that my unfair advantage would be I love to jumping in and taking action. And I would say that I’m also very comfortable with making mistakes.  And I think people that make mistakes, they think that it’s a problem or they’re there. They’re done in the right path, and then they give up. But the key is when you make those mistakes as obviously to learn from it, and then they continue to keep moving forward.” – Gary Hibbert

“I think the best thing is the mindset.  It doesn’t have anything to do with money. It has to do with mindset. There are so many different ways to do it, but it’s about writing down your goals, and once you do it, you move forward with that.  So, mindset is such a huge thing, and learning from other people that have gone through that journey.” – Gary Hibbert
