In 2008, he purchased his first investment property and through hard work and dedication, left the regiment of the corporate world to become a Full Time Entrepreneur in 2014. Gary has helped hundreds of clients with creating a wealth strategy plan through public speaking, online webinars and even has his own podcast channel dedicated to inspire and educate anyone willing to change their mindset. He continues to play an active role in his community by attending corporate, private and school events to educate adults and especially children. On this week’s show Gary chats with friend and longtime investor Frank Taylor. Frank purchases his first property during the  1987-1988 boom (just like 20/21), then the market crashed in 1990, leading to a recession. He’s being going strong since then, with no signs of slowing down!

Frank’s Bio

At 18 years of age I started my first company, CanClean, which specialized in commercial steam cleaning and restoration services throughout Toronto, Peel and Halton region. The company provided services to some of the largest commercial office space providers and several multi-residential rental asset firms as well as service calls for Leon’s Furniture, based from their Burlington location.

At 20, I began to invest in real estate for the future of my children's post secondary education and for retirement, purchasing older homes in Hamilton and converting them into duplexes and triplexes. I taught myself the ins and outs of total restoration as I engaged in rebuilding those properties. In 1992, having discovered that my true passion lay in the real estate, I divested from CanClean and became a licensed realtor who specialized in multi- residential and mixed-use commercial holdings. My business ranged widely, from single family flips to rebuilding older / historical multi-unit residential buildings of scale. Clients were able to take advantage of my background in reconstruction, as I offered project management services that included multiple million dollar restorations of many properties of distinction in Hamilton and Burlington. Over the span of 36 years as a multi-res / mixed use specialist, I was involved in the sale, acquisition, property management and full restorations of commercial and residential real estate worth hundreds of millions of dollars. 

I retired from organized real estate to open Frank Taylor Consulting Ltd in August 2020. 

Of course, my most rewarding job has been as a full-time father to three amazing adult children - Ryan, Sierra, and Mathison. I reside in downtown Toronto.

Chris has been investing in rental properties for near a decade.  He is a full time investor and a full time real estate agent.  Over this period Chris has contributed to various projects and has worked with some of the best in the industry.  Having won several real estate awards himself and being profiled in several RE Investment magazines and articles, he continues to contribute his knowledge and experience with web articles, videos, seminars and events.

Chris has a background in sales, public speaking and marketing. He prides himself on his people skills and aspires to teaching others how to achieve their financial goals through real estate investing and taking action. One of his personal goals is to mentor disadvantaged youth to show them that anybody can be successful and achieve their dreams. He has a family with two beautiful young children whom he adores and loves to spend time with.

In the beginning, Gary lived pay cheque to pay cheque as many others do. He had been accustomed to the reality that at the end of the month, there was more month than money. Realizing that there must be another way to make ends meet, he became determined to educate himself and make a change. However, at that point, he hadn’t yet realized that by changing his own life, it would enable him to help 100’s of future investors to their path to finding financial freedom. In 2010, Gary launched Smart Home Choice, a company dedicated to educating new and experienced investors through a focus on SMART goals in order to allow them to make informed decisions in their investing strategies. Currently, Smart Home Choice is one of Durham Region’s largest groups of Real Estate Investors and although the company is continually growing, it offers networking, mentoring, and self-improvement opportunities to its members.

In addition to Smart Home Choice, Gary is the owner of a private investment company called Deep Pockets and most recently has joined in a partnership of ownership of a real estate brokerage; Our Neighbourhood Realty.
